Aboriginal Education

At Yarrawarrah Public School we are proud of our Aboriginal education and culture programs.

Yarrawarrah's RAP

A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a formal commitment to reconciliation. It documents how our school or early learning service will strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, around the school/service and with the community.

Schools and early learning services can develop a RAP using the Narragunnawali platform to register and extend on existing initiatives, or to begin their reconciliation journeys.

Yarrawarrah was the first public school in Sutherland Shire to have a published RAP, demonstrating our commitment to the importance of Aboriginal Education in our school.

Our current RAP can be viewed here.

Yarn Up

Students have the option of participating in a “Yarn Up” group as a non-scripture option. Yarn Up is delivered by classroom teachers in consultation with Aboriginal elders.

Aboriginal Education programs and initiatives

Our school provides students a variety of opportunities within the school and externally. Our working relationship with our local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) is greatly valued.
